Christmas Cheer

Heeellllooo,

So like I said yesterday I am trying to get back to frequent blogging so I thought I would take a minute, sit down, and write a little about my day.

Now its getting to the point where you can't ignore christmas as it really is just around the corner, and that's great however I have been seriously struggling to get in the christmas spirit with all the work I have, college and job wise. My house is pretty christmassy now, we have our tree up and lights and candles around the room, but we literally seem to have no time on our hands to do anything which is sad. Hopefully as it nears the big day I'll be able to relax a little and enjoy christmas again.
So it their anyone that shares my lack of christmassy feelings? Or does anyone have any tips on how to get in the christmas spirit??
Merry Christmas!

I'm back!!

Hello very few people that read these posts!

I'm back on blogger as you can see and I am going to make a real effort from now on to do frequent posts on here and actively try to get my blog out there. :) Awhile ago I said I'd started a youtube channel, but I haven't posted on their for a long time and probably won't be, I think I am much better suited to writing my thoughts than talking about them infront of a camera. So here I am and here I shall try to stay, it has been very hectic recently, but I guess it always will be with uni coming up and exams and of course xmas in the very near future! I will also be posting more on writing sites such as Movellas and Wattpad, to try and get you guys to read my writing and read other peoples! :Dd So yeah, hope to see you guys around! :D

Birdsong by Sebastian Faulks

Hello!
So for my first proper post back on my blog I thought I'd share with you one of my favourite ever books! This book is called Birdsong by Sebastian Faulks.
I'll tell you how I first got to know about this amazing book:
It was a normal weekday evening with nothing much on TV and my dad informed me that this period drama was on, set before and during the first world war. Immediate interest. For long as I can remember I have been almost worrying interested in both WW's but especially WW1. I recently went to France and Belgium to see the war graves and battlefields, but that is a whole other blog post. Anyway, I decided to watch a bit of it, it had already been on a little bit but I picked it up. It soon got to ten o'clock and Ii decided to hit the hay as I had college the next day, but it had sparked my interest. The next evening I went online and found the episodes. I watched the whole first episode again and then couldn't stop myself watching the second one aswell. It was so interesting, a mix of heart ache, love, joy, loss, pain and grief. All the things I believe make a brilliant, page turning story. A quick insight on the story is basically, a young English man (Stephen Wraysford) is sent by his employer to Amien, France to stay with a French family (The Azaire's) to experience the French cloth industry. He their falls in love with Mrs Azaire and after a few weeks of a secret affair they run away together. However both in the book and the TV drama, it flicks between times, making it ever so slightly harder to follow. It flicks from just before the war, when he's staying with the family, and then during the war, when he is a lieutenant in the army. I don't want to ruin the story for you, so I'll just say something happens between Stephen and Isabelle (Mrs Azaire) to break their bliss, and send Stephen off to war, but you'll have to watch or read it, to see what!    After I'd watched both TV episodes numerous times, captivated as I was, the avid reader I am I immediately looked up the book it had been based on. If the TV drama was this brilliant what would the book be like? I have also neglected to tell you that my dad thought I would like it as well because the lead man was quite nice to say the least, and far play to my dad, yes he is. In fact Birdsong also sparked my deepest love and admiration for a certain Eddie Redmayne. I fell in love with him, his acting and the story and I really think this story had such an impact on me. But anyway, back to the book search, as soon as I could I went into my local waterstones and found the book, which by this time the cover had been redone with the TV drama type cover. They only had this on in stock, and although I'd initially wanted the original cover, I didn't protest too much to the drama cover as it had the beautiful Eddie Redmayne on the front. To date I have read this book five times, on my six I think now. It never gets old, I will warn you, the book's ending is different to the drama, well not really different, there's just more in the book, it kind of explains more, and has, if I can say this with out ruining it, has another 'time period' at the end which add's to the story.
Simply putting it, you need to read this book, it's a brilliant story, it's a love story, but also a history novel, it's a bit of everything, just read it!

A nobody's opinion

So today I thought I'd do a post about...well...about me mainly and my opinion on struggling to get noticed in the writing world AND everywhere else. Its the same old struggle for teenagers of trying to fit in, or at least feel like we're fitting in.

The thing is everyday I get home from college, from hard work, pretty dull, lonely, yet stressful days. I usually have to hang around in the cold for ages waiting for a lift and it just renews my sense of wanting to really achieve something in my life. I sit down to do one of my favorite things, write, but a lot of the time it is ruined by the need to do coursework. My teachers are on my back, I'm on my back, in fact I'm my biggest critique. You may not know this, I think apart from one, none of my friends know my dream is to become a published, relatively well known author. But one thing I am learning, its okay to have ambitions and dreams. In fact its good, it can keep you focused and its always good to have a goal.

Now I'm on twitter and currently I have, by some standards, a somewhat small 179 followers and many people stress and whine over there twitter followers, and there are a lot of sites to try and get you followers, but really come on, if someone wants to follow you they will, if they don't they won't. #justsayin Its too easy to get depressed if you get no retweets or followers for a while, but its okay, people just because your not twitter famous doesn't mean your a nobody and in the words of Eliza Dolittle, What's wrong with being a nobody?

So basically this was just a little chat, talking about being relatively unknown to the outside world, and how its okay, and who knows what is just around the corner!! :D xxx

So......its been a while chums!

So, it has officially been a looonnnnggg time since I have posted anything on my blog, but I promise for the few that actually read my blog, I will make it up to you right now!

Okay, so there have been a lot of things going on in my life recently and as I said its been so long since I have blogged any of it that I can't really remember where I was up to! But lets start with yesterday...I went to see Oliver!! It was incredible, even though we didn't have the best seats. Samantha Barks (Eponine, in Les Miserables film, for those who don't know) is stunning and just brilliant! Unfortunately my parents wouldn't let me hang around to see if she came out (boo!) but I did really enjoy it, I love musicals and I can now add Oliver to my list of musicals and productions I have seen. The list is as follows,
1. Joseph and the technicoloured dream coat
2. Lion King
3. Wicked
4. Mamma Mia
5. Whistle down the wind
6. and now OLIVER!!
Yes it was brilliant! Anyhow another thing that has happened to me recently which is NOT a good thing at all is I had food poisoning. Yes, food poisoning  It was not a nice experience and I never want to relive it! But there you go, I'm better now....nearly. I think I'll leave it there for now, I'm on half term by the way and having fun, so there you go, a bit of an update! I may add pictures later from a certain Wells trip. xxxx

101 days

The first step you took out our door
It suddenly felt so cold, so raw.
I watched you go, I wished you well
Even though letting you go was hell.
I wait for your calls, a letter
Though seeing you myself would be much better.
I want to see you again, safe and sound
Because this loneliness has me be bound.
It seems a lifetime away,
Since I saw you last May,
And till I see you again, 101 days away.

Old Cars and Bikes....fun?

So on New Years day, (Happy new year everyone btw!!) I, for some crazy reason, decided to go with my dad to this car and bike show thing. I think what it was, was that seeing as the rain hasn't stopped for months now and I haven't been able to take any photos with my new amazing camera, I saw it as an opportunity to ease it in. I took some okay photos, but after an hour I was freezing and most of them had left anyway. Some of the big american trucks were pretty cool and the old army vehicles, but an hour had been enough. It took me the rest of the day to warm up. Anyway I thought I would share some of my photos with you :D Hope your all good :D
